Dermaplaning

What Is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a gentle, manual exfoliation treatment that uses a sterile surgical blade to remove the top layer of dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). This leaves the skin smoother, brighter, and better able to absorb skincare products, with makeup applying more evenly.

How often should I have dermaplaning?
Most clients enjoy dermaplaning every 4–6 weeks, which aligns with the skin’s natural cell turnover cycle. It can also be combined with other treatments, depending on your skin type and goals.

What are the common myths of microneedling?
A common myth is that dermaplaning causes hair to grow back thicker or darker—this isn’t true. The procedure only removes fine vellus hair, which grows back at the same rate and texture. Another misconception is that dermaplaning is harsh; in reality, it’s a very gentle, non-invasive treatment suitable for most skin types.

What is the downtime for dermaplaning?
There is little to no downtime. Your skin may appear slightly pink or feel a bit sensitive immediately after treatment, but this usually settles within a few hours. The result is instantly smoother and brighter skin.

Is there any pre treatment care I need to consider before having a dermaplaning treatment?
In the days leading up to your appointment, avoid retinols, exfoliants, and strong active ingredients. Keep the skin hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure or tanning. Arrive with clean, dry, makeup-free skin.

What is the aftercare for microneedling?
Following dermaplaning, stick to gentle, hydrating skincare and avoid exfoliants or active ingredients for at least 48 hours. Use SPF daily, as freshly exfoliated skin can be more sensitive to the sun. Avoid heat, saunas, and intense exercise on the day of treatment to prevent irritation.
